Historical Land Registry Records
Older copies of the TItle Register can be obtained from May 1993 to the date the current owner purchased the property. A separate fee is payable for each date searched. Therefore the most efficient way of searching for a complete history of ownership is as follows:
1) Apply for a Title Register Search and check when the property was purchased
2) Apply for a History Search for the date prior to the date of purchase
3) When you receive the History Search look for the date of purchase and purchase a further
4) History Search for the date prior - continue as needed
Alternatively, if you are already familiar with this type of search and know what you are looking for you may wish to order a combination of current and past documents at the same time. The order form below provides all of these options.
If you wish to search back earlier than 1993 the only way to do this is to look through the current Title Register to see if there are any Registered Old Deeds available for purchase. They will be identified on our report and also in the Register with such words as "copied into the certificate". Documents which are described as conveyances or transfers are the purchase documents and will contain the names and addresses of the vendors and purchasers. You can apply for a Document Search (or a Conveyance / Transfer Search) to obtain copies of these. Often these documents, if available, can date back to the 19th centrury.
Historical Title Register
This search provides you with an earlier edition of the Title Register rather than the current one. You will be given the option of specifying a precise date to search after 1993, or of selecting the date prior to the date of purchase by the current owner.
Registered Conveyance or Transfer
Conveyances and Transfers are the actual purchase documents and will contain the names and address of the purchasers and vendors. These may date back to the 1800's.
Current and Historical Title Register
This search includes both the current edition of the Register and an earlier edition
Historical Title Register and Conveyance or Transfer
A combination of an Historical Edition of the Register and a copy of a Conveyance or Transfer
Current and Historical Title Register plus Conveyance or Transfer
A combination of a current copy of the Regiser, an Historical Edition of the Register and a registered Conveyance or Transfer
