In 2006 new regulations were passed that stated every new build should comply with ‘Part L’ of the New Building Regulations. This means that every new build should be tested for air tightness, permeability and air leakage.
Air leakage results in heat loss, higher CO2 emissions and of course higher heating bills. Reducing air leakage is primarily an environmental regulation but it also ensures lower heating bills for the occupiers.
Dom Com carry out air tightness testing and provide you with a full report on which areas need to be improved.
The most common Air Leakage areas are;
Recess Light Fixtures
Loft Hatches
Windows and Doors
Behind Bath Panels
Behind Coving
And Behind Skirting Boards
During the construction stage ensure that all of these areas are sealed properly to cut down the possibility of air leakage.
